On Wednesday 5th June, Notley High School hosted the Notley cluster semi-final for the Braintree Masterchef 2013 competition.

One year 5 and one year 6 student from each of the Notley primary schools was invited to cook a healthy dish of their choice in an hour. They could spend no more than £5.00 on ingredients. This year's entries were of an exceptionally high standard and included a variety of tasty delights, including chicken korma, tangy meatballs, pork and leek burgers and fish cakes.

Sadly there could only be one winner for each of the year groups. For year 6 Libby Martin from White Court Primary School with her dish of venison, potato dauphinoise and asparagus and for year 5 Libby Martinez from White Notley Primary School with a lamb tagine and couscous. A big congratulations to both of you!

The final will take place on Saturday 13th July at Alec Hunter where the semi-finalists, together with two entries from year 7 and 8, will compete against students from Alec Hunter Humanities College and Tabor Academy. We wish you all lots of luck!

This competition is organised by TANGO, a Braintree group devoted to running activities for able and talented students in our local schools.

Many thanks to the Food Technology Department and Mrs Robb (TANGO Coordinator)
