    Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

For us at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form. We are committed to developing and strengthening equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the school and sixth form . We want to raise the achievement of all our students, to develop and nurture respect of others, as well as celebrate the diversity within our community.

We were proud this year to achieve the Bronze Award in the Pride in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award run by the organisation Education & Celebrate and are committed now to working to achieve the silver award as part of the next stage of our journey. This has included a full review of our policies and practices, staff and student surveys and staff training.

Other examples include our Pride Youth Network, which has been established and led by senior students and staff with regular meetings during the academic year, and the organisation of events such as this summer’s Pride Picnic in June. Celebration events and information sharing events have been built into the school’s calenda. Each classroom, as well as our school Reception, displays posters confirming our school community’s respect for protected characteristics.

Equality, diversity and inclusion is included as a part of our curriculum review and training for staff.
