The department benefits from a suite of specialised classrooms and workshops to support the Product Design curriculum. Students undertake a progression of structured projects and mini tasks that develop practical skills in wood, metal, plastics and most modern materials as well as theoretical understanding of working practices. This includes use of computer aided design to enhance project work and an appreciation of industrial contexts/the work of others.

As students move further up the school, they are led towards completing extended design projects that demonstrate their understanding and skills in designing, planning and manufacture.
