Article Date: 24 February 2021

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it is the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world!

This year, we will be celebrating World Book Day with two special House competitions and Passport Challenge activities. These will be sent to form tutors on 1 March so make sure you get involved! Everyone in school will also receive a FREE £1 book token. The token will be sent to you electronically; there will not be a physical token. You can print and take your token to your local bookseller and swap it for one of the exclusive, new and completely FREE, World Book Day books! The token will be sent to you via your school email on 4 March so keep an eye out for it in your inbox.

The token is valid until 28 March, however participating booksellers will honour the token beyond 28 March this year, while stocks last. Only 1 token per student, full details of participating booksellers can be found on the World Book Day website. Any issues printing, please let us know and we can arrange an alternative for you.

There are also lots of activities to get involved in via the World Book Day website - check out the free books and find out more at www.worldbookday.com

Happy World Book Day!
