Following the success in their group matches against local schools and managing to score over 30 goals, the Year 9 football team faced a very strong Tabor side in the final.Notley knew that they had to start the game well and try to play the game at their own pace. They managed to control the game from the start and began to dominate possession. A few half chances fell to Notley but nothing of any quality. That was until a nothing ball dropped about 25 yards in front of Finlay Rudge. Rudge walked onto it and managed to hit a screamer into the far top corner giving Notley the lead. It wasn’t too long before Notley doubled their lead. After a long hopeful ball, Ethan Wade put the Tabor goalie under pressure and caused him to make a quick hurried clearance. The clearance fell straight to Jack Rolls who calmly stroked the ball into the unguarded net. The score remained the same until the second half. Good work on the wing and great link up play in midfield enabled Joe Bennett to escape his marker and arrive perfectly to meet the cross and fire into the corner. Notley were now 3-0 up and controlling the game well. The defence were well marshalled throughout by Monty Forster, Rory Baker and Owen Dawson. With seconds remaining, Tabor managed to grab a consolation goal to make the final score 3-1, and crown Notley as the District Champions for 2015. This is a great achievement for all the boys involved and shows the team spirit that has been created this season. Well done to all that are involved and roll on next season to retain the title!
