Well – what can we say?!  What a week it was, with staff and students from Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form joining in to make so many contributions to raising funds for special projects in Africa and here in the UK.  So many children will benefit from what we raised in this school.

Mr Vosper and his tutor group, 8L, had activities going on all week with a cookie bake sale, penalty shoot out, guess the total length of strawberry lace in the jar and foam pie throwing (at Mr Vosper)!
9C and their tutor, Mrs Smith, ran an activity for four days with a personalities scratch poster, Mr Newman ran a trampoline session for Year 9 students and there was a Notley versus Alec Hunter staff football match after school on Friday 18 March.  There were also other tables and stalls in the corridors throughout the week with lots of different ways of raising money.  Six students from Braintree Sixth Form also joined in to assist young students with events at lunch times and £380 was raised by the Sixth Form body.
Three big money-spinners were Staff in the Stocks, (students taking great pleasure in throwing wet sponges at Mr Tucker, Miss Rabhi, Ms Cobb, Miss Stanley and Mr de Gea Fernandez), Staff Head Shave, (Mrs Bryers wielding the clippers over the heads of Mr Burge and Mr de Gea Fernandez) and the Staff Band (Mr Rowe, Mrs Kelly, Mrs Segura, Mr Vosper, Mr Swain and Mr Harris) on the Friday.  The whole week was great fun.

The grand total raised this year for Red Nose Day was a whopping £2,748.83 – a huge amount, which easily beat our target of £2,000.  This is a magnificent sum which will do so much for needy children.

Everyone concerned, from the students, parents and staff who held the events,

Thank you so much to everyone for making this such a spectacularly special event.

Mrs Jacqui Smith – Senior Teacher
