Staff and students at Notley High School are today celebrating the school’s re-designation by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) as a Technology College. 

The school first achieved specialist school status as a Technology College in 2001 and schools are required to bid for re-designation every four years. Notley now enters its second phase as a Technology College, from 2005 – 2009.

The DfES also confirmed that Notley has been successful in its bid to take on a second specialism in vocational education following its designation as a high-performing specialist school earlier this year.

Headteacher, Simon Thompson, said:

“I am absolutely delighted with the news from the DfES this morning. Technology College status has allowed us to focus on raising standards of achievement and improving the access to IT facilities at the school. We are very proud of what we have achieved over the past four years and look forward now to the next phase of the school’s development over the next four years. We were very pleased to be identified as a high-performing specialist school earlier this year and we also look forward to developing vocational education as a second specialism alongside our Technology College work.”

Mr. Thompson also thanked all the staff and students who had contributed to the school’s success in recent years and praised Mr. Osborn, Deputy Headteacher, and Mr. Lee-Allan, Assistant Headteacher, for their skilful co-ordination of the process of re-bidding to the DfES.
