Dear Parent/Carers
Further to my most recent letter to you, I write with an update on the planned support for Maths and Science following our analysis of the November mock examination results.
Maths
- In this morning's assembly, students will be informed of their new Maths set. Sets have been re-arranged based on the mock results and begin today.
- From Wednesday, morning registration will be replaced with an additional Maths session. These sessions will start at 8.40am and finish at 9.05am. Students will practise questions and topics that appear on papers each year. This is a key part of our support for all students.
Science
- Sets have also been re-arranged following the mock results and begin on Thursday.
- Mrs Howells will write to you to explain the new arrangements and any proposed changes to tier of entry.
I will of course write to you again regarding Period 6 sessions. In the meantime, if you have any questions/queries regarding Maths sets, please email Mr Clark ([email protected]).
Finally, as I have said in the Christmas edition of the Notley News, there are some exceptional mock results and also some that showed the need for continual revision and preparation ahead of the examinations in the summer term. That is why we have mocks in order that students and parents can have a snapshot of where they are and what they need to do moving forward. Where we have identified gaps in student knowledge due to staffing issues in Science last year, we have mapped these into the revised curriculum from January.
As parents, you can continue to support us by ensuring your child(ren) attend school every day and on time, particularly now that there is vital Maths work from 8.40am each day.
Mr Barrow
Headteacher
