News

I have spent a lot of time over the last two weeks focusing on teacher recruitment. We have been successful in appointing a new and experienced teacher of Maths, Mr Elliott, who joins us immediately after Easter. We have also now appointed further teachers of English, Maths and Science ready for September ’25; and are today interviewing for an additional teacher of Computer Science. Mr Pryke, our newly appointed Subject Leader for Computer Science, joins us after Easter and is involved in today’s interviews.

Mrs Townsend, along with our RSLs, are preparing for next week’s Celebration Assemblies which will recognise HEART points and other significant achievement. Some headlines:

  • 993 students will receive at least one ‘certificate of achievement’;
  • 105 students have 100% attendance since the start of this academic year;
  • 354 students have either 98 or 99% attendance since the start of this academic year.

In addition to this, students will also be awarded HEART ‘pins’ to wear on their blazers. Our pins are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Ruby and Emerald. I am delighted to share that:

  • There are already two students in Year 8 who will be awarded their ‘Emerald’ pin;
  • A further 16 Year 8 and Year 10 students who will be awarded their ‘Ruby’ pin; and
  • 416 students, from across all year groups, will be receiving their ‘Gold’ pin.

These are fantastic achievements and each and every student is to be congratulated!

Pre-loved uniform – an update from Mrs N Goodwin, School Governor

We are pleased to announce that we are setting up a preloved uniform 'shop' for our students. This initiative aims to provide affordable and sustainable options for families, as well as reduce waste and support our school's environmental efforts.

To make this project a success, we are reaching out to you, for your help. We are kindly asking if you have any uniforms in good, washed condition or new condition, that you would be willing to donate to the school. Your generosity will go a long way in ensuring that all our students have access to the necessary clothing they need to feel comfortable and confident at school.

Additionally, we are seeking volunteers to help maintain the preloved uniform 'shop'. If you are able to spare one or two hours per month, please let us know. Your support will be invaluable in keeping the 'shop' organised and accessible for our families.

If you are unable to donate uniform but would like to support the project in other ways, we would greatly appreciate any donations of a roller rack or plastic lidded boxes suitable for storing the uniforms, as well as hangers.

If you have any further questions or would like more information about how you can get involved, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Mrs N Goodwin

We believe in encouraging and rewarding effort and achievement. Students earn HEART points which focus on positive behaviours for learning and the development of each and every student’s character.

We believe that by providing students with HEART points, students are encouraged to engage fully with all opportunities available to them.

They also provide a framework for students to achieve their personal best and to be rewarded for it.

Through our planned curriculum and focus on HEART, we strive to develop 6 character virtues which are in line with our whole school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire’.
