A wonderful wacky “Wally Fest” was unleashed in Notley’s main school library last week to celebrate World Book Day on 5 March 2020.

. Wally fans were treated to a special “Where’s Wally” themed day of activities and competitions. Students from across all year groups took part in a variety of activities, including a “Where’s Wally Landmarks Competition”, where students had to identify famous landmarks from all over the world that the intrepid Wally had been visiting. Students were also challenged to a Wally Hunt around the library, finding and seeking the 10 hidden items and characters from the popular “Where’s Wally” books. Other activities included a Wally themed word search, Wally crossword, Wally colouring in and Wally themed puzzles – it was wallytastic! Students across the school also received their special £1 World Book Day token, which they can use to exchange for one of the ten special World Book Day books, available in all good book shops. World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, it is a celebration of reading. It is the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. The students at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form had a fabulous time.
