‘Les Miserables’ debuted in 1985 and was recently reimagined for the stage, giving our students the opportunity to experience the new adaptation in its freshest state. Set in early 19th century France during the beginning of the French revolution, it follows Jean Valjean (Jon Robyns) as he learns how to navigate life during turbulent times, meeting a range of characters including Fantine (Carrie Hope Fletcher), Eponine (Shan Ako) and the ever vigilant Javert (Bradley Jaden).
The true star of the show was little Gavroche whose cheeky charisma and charm kept us laughing despite the sad storyline. Students were overwhelmed by the emotional performances of songs such as ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ and ‘One Day More’ with very few dry eyes left in the group! Nonetheless, they still had the energy to lead their own musical singalong on the coach going home and were a credit to the school with their enthusiasm and impeccable behaviour whilst on the trip.
Thank you to all for a fantastic evening out. Could we hear the children sing? Absolutely.
