On 30 January, Mr. Vyvyan Rose, Head of design for Breville kitchen appliances (known as Sage in the UK), came in to talk to Y10 V-CERT and GCSE Product Design students about Real World Design.

This was a fascinating talk from a designer that manages a team of ten designers developing world-class kitchen appliances. Students were taken through the modern day design process, the importance of working as a team, to developing multiple prototypes before manufacture could take place in China. Most importantly students could see how developing design skills at Y10 could lead to a career choice in a creative industry.

Vyvyan used to be a chief engineer at Dyson and explained how getting an internship at Dyson allowed his career to unfold to where it is today.
