Henry was nominated for the Jack Petchey award by a family member for his courage and clear thinking in managing the situation when his father suddenly became ill.

Henry’s father had come home from hospital following a stroke, but his condition deteriorated suddenly and Henry had to manage the situation with his father, call the emergency services, look after his little sister and call his mother to come home from work urgently. Henry used the first aid skills he had learnt through Scouts and applied the knowledge he has gained about strokes to look after his father and handle a difficult situation. When the paramedics arrived, Henry was able to give them the medical history, treatment and medication that his father had been given and the paramedics commended him for the way he coped with the situation with exceptional maturity and confidence.

Well done, Henry!
