I am delighted to inform all parents and friends of the school that the Essex School Organisation Committee approved our plans for The Braintree Sixth Form Centre last week.

The Centre will open in September 2009 and the first students to enrol will be drawn from the current Year 9 at Notley and our partner schools in the Braintree 14 – 19 Consortium (Alec Hunter, Honywood, Ramsey and Tabor).

The development of the Braintree Sixth Form Centre is an immensely exciting project, not only for Notley High School, but also for the whole of the Braintree area, providing alternative curriculum routes, such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma and new Specialist Diplomas for students in the town. Over the next few months we will be developing the design of the building with our architects, Stanley Bragg Partnership, and submitting a full planning application. We anticipate that building will start on site early in 2008 and will take around 15 months.

I would like to thank the Governors of the school for their strong support for this venture and especially,Mr D Gask (Chair of Governors) Mr R Caryl (Parent Governor) and Mr L Hopkins (Staff Governor) who have worked tirelessly with me to advance our plans. I will keep you informed as our plans develop and I look forward to explaining more of this exciting project to our Year 9 parents at the Upper School Courses Evening in February.
