The ECTA Lunch and Learn scheme was launched this week with James Thomas coming from the Construction Industry Training Board.

Students from all year groups showed interest with a steady stream of students visiting James in the library throughout lunchtime. Some students picked up some of the leaflets provided by ECTA (Essex Construction Training Association), whilst others spoke with James about future prospects and progression routes.

One Year 10 student said, “It was really beneficial to speak with someone who had knowledge of the construction industry. Although I know I want to enter that industry anyway, it gave more information about different pathways”.

Over the remaining weeks of term, different visitors from the construction industry will be visiting the school during Friday lunchtimes and will be situated in the library. Next week (Friday 14th June), Steve Ewers from T J Evers Ltd is due to visit. Each Lunch and Learn is an excellent opportunity for students to find out more about the wide range of roles in the construction industry and to ask someone currently working in the industry any questions they may have.
