    Current and Former Students Celebrate Key Stage 4 Success

It was a great pleasure on 3 December to celebrate the achievements of current Year 11 students and to welcome back former Year 11 students, the 'class of 2015', to award their GCSE certificates and recognise some individual successes.For some, this included the completion of a stage of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Incredibly, over 148 awards were made to students from both year groups over the course of the evening, recognising commitment and effort to studies, academic achievement and sporting success. The audience were entertained by wonderful performances from current Year 11 student Rebecca Hunt and Year 12 student, Melanie Reeve, with some fabulous vocals that belied their years. We were delighted to welcome back Mr Simon Thompson, former Headteacher, to speak to students, parents and carers and staff, and he acknowledged their efforts in achievement as well as discussing his own sources of inspiration. Particular mention should go to the winners of specialist awards this year, who included:
