The first Battlefields Trip of the centenary year took place on Friday 14 November. Students from Year 9 tutor groups N,O,T,L and E and eight staff gathered at an unearthly hour in a chilly school car park in order to leave school by 4am.
The trip included visits to the preserved trenches at Hill 62, Talbot House Museum and the two cells for soldiers condemned to death in the town of Poperinge as well as the Menin Gate and the town of Ypres. At Tyne Cot Cemetery student stood silently and respectfully in the pouring rain whilst we held our own services of remembrance and laid wreaths.
