46 students have achieved certificates in the Maths Challenges this year with four students through to the next round.
The UK Maths Challenges involve answering 25 multiple choice questions and are sat in school under normal exam conditions. They are often intriguing questions which are designed to stimulate an interest in Maths. A total of 146 students took part in the competitions and Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form has had a successful year in the two challenges this year.

The Intermediate Maths Challenge was taken by 90 students in Years 9, 10 and 11 in February 2019.

In Year 11, Alexander Summers achieved a silver award and Lewis Slade, Eleanor Clark, Jacky Wu, Holly Farmer and Jack Ketteringham achieved bronze awards.

In Year 10 Rhiannon Scudder achieved best in the year and the silver award. Samuel Ball, Leon Hearn, Harley Ward and Thomas Finch achieved bronze awards.

See below for one of the questions from the Intermediate paper.

The best in Year 9 was Hollie Christie also achieving the silver award. Dominic Agutter achieved the silver award too. Ryan Cockman, Sam Ridley, Katie Donaldson and Alexander Hope all achieved bronze awards. This is a huge achievement in Year 9 as they are competing with students in Years 10 and 11 as well.

Well done to all with their achievements in the intermediate challenge.
