Students mark Armistice Day with week of assemblies and two minutes’ silence
Students in Years 7-13 have taken part in a week of special Remembrance Assemblies led by Mr Higgon, a member of the school’s history department.
Students have found out about the origins of Remembrance during the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and where the tradition of selling and wearing poppies began in 1921.
All students and staff marked Armistice Day with a two minute silence on Friday 11th November at 11am. Many students also chose to support the Poppy Appeal again this year, with poppies being on sale in Student Services and in Braintree Sixth Form. All proceeds will be passed to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
