This year’s Sports Day again allowed our students to showcase their athletic ability and teamwork across their tutor groups.

The usual two day event started with all field events taking place on Tuesday 7 June and ending with traditional track finals on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 June. There were a few noticeable performances from a few individuals including Luke Walton in the long jump, and Jack Wilson in the 400m race. Jack ran fantastically well and only just missed out on breaking the school record which has stood since 1985. Both students would then go forward as part of the school District Athletics team to compete against fellow schools in the following week.

The team events as always were fairly close after the first day’s competition, with a lot riding on the track finals the next day. A number of PE staff were starting to feel the pressure of ensuring that their own tutor groups were successful. After a lot of nail biting finishes to the races, and rain dodging, we were able to complete all bar three of the events on the day due to the weather beating us. The two Year 10 relay races fell short and also the highly anticipated Staff relay was unable to take place. The two Year 10 races were run at the end of the week to complete and finalise the results. In Year 7, the winners were H with a massive 543 points. Year 8 saw E run out winners with 446 points, while in Year 9 O won with 479 points. In their final sports day Notley O were the winners for Year 10 with 367 points.

A huge thank you to all the students and staff involved over the two days in making Sports Day another successful event.
