We are delighted that two of our students, Nicolette Ester (11O) and Adam Reynolds (9H), were recent recipients of The Diana Award. These prestigious awards are given in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, to young people for their ability to improve and inspire the lives of others.

Nicolette and Adam are justifiably proud of their achievement and are tremendous role models for others in our school community. We congratulate them both on their success.

Mrs Smith (Senior Teacher) has contributed the following commentary about Nicolette and Adam:

"It is with great pleasure we can announce that Nicolette Ester (11O) and Adam Reynolds (9H) have both been awarded the prestigious Diana Award for helping others. Nicolette and Adam were entered for two categories: ‘volunteering and participation’, as well as ‘improving the lives of others’. Nicolette has helped her father, who suffers from MS, since she was six years old and in between looking after him when she gets home from school and at weekends, she has also taught at her church’s Sunday School, raised £1,500 for the Tabor Centre, is a representative on the Young Essex Assembly (Youth Voice) for Braintree students and recently won the Junior Young Person of the Year award in Essex. And yes, she still manages to do all her GCSE homework and coursework!! Nicolette will also be taking part in a South African exchange in future."

Although Adam himself is wheelchair bound due to a medical condition, he still raises funds for charity and other children, in particular the BBC Children in Need Appeal, in which the school participated last term. He is a very happy, cheerful and positive boy despite his own condition, and has won the respect of students and staff alike here at Notley. Congratulations to both students, who thoroughly deserve their Diana Awards and should be very proud of their achievements. Hopefully, their efforts and selflessness will be shining examples to encourage others to make a difference to those people who need help in our community.
