On Wednesday 10 October 2018, ten Year 8 students attended the Young Essex Assembly (YEA) Conference at Chelmsford City Racecourse. The students were put into mixed groups with members of other schools and worked alongside a YEA ambassadorThe students were asked to create a budget plan for the Government and asked to discuss their reasoning behind their budget allocations and all students took this challenge on and made some excellent points. In their small groups, students created presentations and shared their ideas confidently. Some groups made some very valid arguments for banning homework so I’m sure that staff look forward to hearing these!
It was a pleasure to accompany our students and I hope that some of them consider becoming a YEA champion.
