On Tuesday 10 December 2019, the Music department put on their annual Christmas Concert. The evening consisted of a wide variety of music, Christmas readings and carols.

This was the first performance for the new band, which includes all instruments (consisting of a combination of students from the previous jazz band and the woodwind ensemble). We are delighted to have two new violin players join us in Year 7. The band performed three pieces – “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”; “Winter Wonderland” and “Christmas Swings”. Particular thanks go to Holly Christie who covered the piano part with just a few hours’ notice.

As always, the concert featured some of the Year 7 Christmas song pieces. Three groups performed and all had written brilliant songs, which the audience loved.  Jake Christian, Freddie Dowman and Dylan Siebert performed “Snow is Falling”; Nicholas Wicks performed his group song of “Santa Santa” on his own and Emma Clayden; Grace Culling; Abigail Jarvis; Megan Miller; Abigail Sims and Eva White performed “Chuck it in the Trolley”.

The choir performed four pieces and continue to grow in number. They performed two pieces from Frozen; “Someone You Loved” and “Wings”.

For the first time in a concert we had a group rap performance of the Run DMC song “Christmas in Hollis”. Well done to Katie Fagg; Carlos Jardim; Layla Hall and Abigail Stanley who performed brilliantly.

The Year 10 GCSE Music groups performed an excellent finale of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”

Thank you to Miss Bailey for organising and rehearsing the readers. All students read exceptionally well - thank you to Callum Ranger-Green, Jessica Long, Rhiannon Scudder, Jay Masani and Mollie McGowan.
