Recently 96 students from year 10 applied to be members of the CHIPS (Childline in Partnership with Schools) team, this is a real credit to the students of year 10 in particular and Notley High School in general that so many of them wish to help others.
From that original number a group were chosen who the staff thought would be able to work well with the extra responsibility that being a member of the CHIPS team brings. The students stayed behind after school for several hours learning new skills to do with empathy, active listening and open questions. Students also learned more about Notley's approach to bullying and the implications of self harming.
The new team now wear their badges with a great deal of pride and continue to make Notley a school where many members of the community are prepared to listen to others.
