On Wednesday evening a group of Notley Year 8 and Year 9 students collected a special award for their artwork at Essex University. The students had taken part in the ‘Artist in Residence’ project with the Essex collaborative outreach network.

Working with artist Joel Millerchip they designed and produced two large murals for the school. The theme of the murals is ‘aspiration for the future’. Having completed the initial designs in a workshop with Joel the students gave up a weekend to enlarge their designs onto large circular pieces of mdf and recreate them in special mural paint, spray paint and marker pen. The results were fantastic and are currently on display in the Art Exchange at Essex University.

Each student was given a special medal bearing the imprint of their design. Congratulations to: Harry Eustace, Oliver Exton, Olivia Helen, Jack Jezzard, Cyril Lekgetho, Katie Stewart, Alex Summer and Poppy Yates.
