Braintree Sixth Form is delighted to report some outstanding achievements by its students in their A levels and other qualifications this summer.

This year has been particularly challenging for the students due to the uncertainty of how the grades would be awarded and a series of disruptions to their learning due to the pandemic. Following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic. Braintree Sixth Form will not be publishing data but we celebrate the success of all our students.

Amongst the very top performers are Lewis Slade, who will study Engineering at the University of Durham having achieved an A* in each of his four A levels, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Computing.

Noah Marsh will go on to pursue his dream of studying Medicine at the University of East Anglia, having been awarded A*s in each of his A levels of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Kieran Cockayne will study Law at the University of Nottingham, having achieved 3 A*s in English Language and Literature, Media Studies and Politics.

Katy Moss takes up a place to study Law at Royal Holloway following her achievement of A* grades in English Language and Literature and Sociology, and an A in Psychology.

Luke Deane, who is awarded A*s in each of his A level subjects of English Language and Literature, Media Studies and Politics, will study Product Design at Bournemouth University.

Hannah Humm achieved a Distinction in Sport as well as A* grades in Biology and Psychology and will take up her place reading Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough University.

Erin Foyster will study Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Lincoln, having achieved A* grades in Sociology and Psychology as well as an A in Mathematics.

This is just a selection from many individual achievements and successes, and we congratulate students on the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout their studies.

Dr Cusick (Head of School) and Mrs Townsend (Head of Sixth Form) issued a joint statement: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure students are all able to progress onto further education, apprenticeships or employment, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future.”
