Following a selection process earlier this year, a number of Notley High and Braintree Sixth Form students were selected to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree, which will take place in West Virginia, USA, in the summer of 2019.

It promises to be a great challenge and adventure for them all, and this term Henry Wright, Eleanor Hatwell, Joshua Christie, Melisssa Forrester and Caitlin Howat have all given House assemblies across a week to raise awareness of what the event involves, the selection process as well as their hard work to fundraise for the event. Each student has to raise several thousand pounds in order to attend this global event, which promotes peace and understanding, and is being hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada. Their efforts will also go to support other scouts from less developed countries to attend. They followed their assemblies with a very successful cake sale, the proceeds of which will go to their ongoing total.

We congratulate the students on their selection and send them our best wishes for the Jamboree itself.
