Students and staff at Braintree Sixth Form are celebrating 100% pass rates at both A level and IB courses.

International Baccalaureate students achieved the Sixth Form’s best ever results with a 100% pass rate in the Diploma. The international pass rate is 78%. Enya Holland achieved the highest score of 39 which is worth more UCAS points than 4 A* grades at A level. This score places Enya in the top 8% of students in the world. Enya also achieved Grade 7 in Environmental Systems and Societies, a result that places her in the top 2% of students in the world for this subject. Enya will be taking up a place at University of York to read History. Other high scoring IB students include Savannah Turner, who has gained a place at the prestigious University of St Andrews and Samantha Hornsey who will be reading Psychology at the University of Southampton.

The 100% pass rate was matched by the A level students, with some exceptional individual performances. Shaheen Ahmed’s A*AA grades gain him a place to read Theoretical Physics  at University of Durham, whilst Sean Whiteley’s four A grades secure him a place to read Mathematics at Nottingham University. He will be joined there by Oliver King, whose AAB grades gain him a place to read Chemistry.    Other top performers include Aleksandra Lazowska, who gained A* AAB and Jonathan Rawlinson with AAB.

Co-Directors of Sixth Form, Sarah Steadman and Kate Stubbs are delighted with the results. Sarah Steadman commented, ‘This excellent set of results really showcases Braintree Sixth Form as a force for academic success in Braintree. We are delighted that so many of our students have chosen to continue their education at University.’  Kate Stubbs is looking forward to welcoming the new cohort of students to Braintree Sixth Form.  She commented, ‘Our success at A level is matched by some excellent performances at AS and we are very excited about the year ahead.  Enrolment for Year 12 will take place on 22nd August from 9am.’

Simon Thompson, Headteacher of Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form, commented, ‘This third set of results from Braintree Sixth Form confirm that within four years of opening we have established, with our partner schools, a very successful sixth form.  I would especially wish to congratulate all our students on their successes and thank the Braintree Sixth Form leadership team, teachers and support staff for their unstinting work with the students.’
