Monday 15 June 2026 Congratulations to Lola, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! Over the past three years, she has consistently demonstrated commitment and compassion by volunteering with Brownies and supporting young people with additional needs at a youth club.

Monday 27 April 2026 Congratulations to Davie, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! I would like to nominate my son Davie W for the Jack Petchey award. He has kept up and improved his grades throughout the last year and also has done some brilliant work outside school to help himself grow into a brilliant, hardworking kind young man. He made his own business in gardening and weeding last year and to do so he went out and advertised for days to grow his business. He has done over 80 jobs and a lot of regular customers. He gets home from school and does his schoolwork then heads out. He has really gained experience and worth of money from doing all this. He has never let anyone down and he is well known in the community for all the above. I am super proud of him and feel he deserves this.

Monday 16 March 2026 Congratulations to Lillie a Jack Petchey Award Winner! Lillie has been nominated for the extra efforts she has made over the last few years, and in particular over the last year, to make a real difference to her school.She has supported the library over a number of years, currently helping on Monday and Tuesday during lunchtime, and they know that if they are short and need cover, they normally look to Lillie to help as she is so reliable. As part of this work she has also supported many students on a regular basis to complete homework whilst in the library, providing support and confidence to those struggling or lacking motivation. She has taken on Peer Mentoring and Peer Championing, always looking for ways to encourage and push her fellow students to excel. She helps out at the art dropping sessions on Wednesdays, normally coming up with ideas for new things to undertake, keeping it fresh.She has also been a Drama Director for the year's 7 group. Friday 6 March 2026 Congratulations to Ella a Jack Petchey Award Winner! Ella is a keen singer, she has been taking lessons for 3 years now and has performed at local show cases and performs at open mic nights in Braintree. She has been taking her vocal grade exams, obtaining distinctions in grades 1-3 and most recently a merit in her grade 4. To support her singing she has also learnt to play the piano. This has been a huge amount of additional effort around school work.

Thursday 22 January 2026 Chess Tournament There was a real buzz in the Library on Wednesday 21st January, as the Chess Tournament started at lunchtime. We've had so many students sign up that the first round is being played over two days – it's good to see so many students enjoying the game. There was also a very high level of chess being played – especially for a first round! Good luck to all participants.

Wednesday 17 December 2025 Congratulations to Sam, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! We are proud to nominate Sam for a Jack Petchey Award. This year Sam has been for 7 auditions, been in 2 short films, performed in the West End and Dunmow theatres, been invited to a film premiere, that saw him signing autographs like a film star, and now that his NDA is over, we can now tell you the news has just been released that he plays Tom Riddle in the new Audible audio Harry Potter books, where he has long scripts with Hugh Laurie and plays the younger version of Matthew Macfayden.

Monday 8 December 2025 Exam Certificate Collection GCSE and A Level certificates are available for collection from our Sixth Form reception. They will then be available between 8:00am and 4:00pm on weekdays during term time.

Wednesday 19 November 2025 Congratulations to Xander, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! We are proud to nominate Xander for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for his outstanding dedication, leadership, and initiative. As a Prefect and Student Council member, Xander leads by example, volunteering at open events, delivering speeches, and independently hosting assemblies with confidence and pride.

Friday 7 November 2025 Congratulations to Maddisen, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! Maddisen has been award for her dedication to Gymnastics. She has been attending Dynamix Gymnastics club in Braintree since she was 4 years old and competing in competitions since she was 7. She also attends Phina Circus & Dance school as the acro and dance elements help her to improve her floor work, rhythm and creativity. Maddisen trains up to 10 hours a week with additional core training which she completes at home.

Friday 7 November 2025 Congratulations to Freya, a Jack Petchey Award Winner! Freya has been dealing with Focal Dystonia since she was 8-years-old. Her hands will lock in a closed position, and she is unable to continue with most day-to-day tasks, this causes significant pain for her. Despite this, Freya is determined to do well and is trying to find alternative methods to continue her studying. Freya has been attending her law lessons with a positive attitude, contributing to class discussions and providing excellent answers to exam questions. She is using her independent study time to revise in detail and is applying fantastic focus and effort to her studies.
