News

On Monday, we shared the very sad news of the passing of a former student, Millie. This loss has been deeply felt across our school community. I would like to acknowledge how maturely and compassionately our students have responded, offering support and kindness to one another during this difficult time. Millie is remembered fondly by staff and students alike, and our thoughts remain with her family and friends. Support continues to be available for any students who may need it.

This week, a group of our students had the exciting opportunity to visit Ramsey Academy to meet published author S.J. Wills, the author of Bite Risk. The session was both inspiring and insightful, with students gaining a deeper understanding of the writing process and what it takes to become a professional author. Events like these help ignite creativity and reinforce the power of storytelling in young minds.

We are also proud to report that several of our students took part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Evening, a prestigious public speaking competition that encourages young people to develop confidence and share their views. Our participants showed impressive courage and eloquence, tackling meaningful topics with maturity and passion. They represented our school with pride, and we commend them on their efforts. Thanks to Mrs Wilson and the twelve Year 9 students who ran the evening.

Students in Years 7 to 11 have attended water safety assemblies, which are part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and personal safety. With the summer months approaching and many young people spending time near rivers, lakes, or the sea, it is vital that they understand the risks and know how to stay safe around water. These assemblies were led by trained professionals and included practical guidance on how to respond in emergencies.

With the exam season fast approaching, our Year 11 and Year 13 students have been attending revision sessions across a range of subjects. These sessions are designed to boost knowledge, refine exam techniques, and support students in the lead-up to their GCSEs and ‘A’-levels. Thank you to colleagues for running these extra sessions; and I encourage all students to make the most of these valuable opportunities over the coming weeks. The Bank Holiday weekend is an opportunity for students to balance to rest and revision.

Reminders

A reminder that:

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend.

Mr M Barrow, Headteacher

We believe in encouraging and rewarding effort and achievement. Students earn HEART points which focus on positive behaviours for learning and the development of each and every student’s character.

We believe that by providing students with HEART points, students are encouraged to engage fully with all opportunities available to them.

They also provide a framework for students to achieve their personal best and to be rewarded for it.

Through our planned curriculum and focus on HEART, we strive to develop 6 character virtues which are in line with our whole school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire’.
