It’s been a strong and positive start back this half term, with students settling quickly into routines and engaging well across the school – thank you.

Our therapeutic boxing sessions continue to be a real highlight, proving both popular and impactful in supporting student wellbeing and confidence. Year 11 and 13 students remain focused as their exams continue, and it was a pleasure to see so many families at the Year 12 Parents’ Evening last night—thank you for your ongoing support. Over the break, a number of our students took part in a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, demonstrating impressive resilience, teamwork, and independence. Congratulations to all involved for showing such valuable life skills in action. Thanks to Miss Francis for organising all of this and to parents for their positive feedback.

This week, our Year 10 students have been out on work experience, gaining valuable insight into the world of work and developing essential skills for their future. We’ve been incredibly proud to hear such positive feedback from employers about their professionalism, enthusiasm, and maturity. From offices to workshops, retail to healthcare settings and primary schools, students have embraced the opportunity to learn in real-world environments. A huge thank you to all the businesses and organisations that have supported our students, and to families for helping to make this experience possible. We look forward to welcoming Year 10 back next week to reflect on their placements and begin preparing for the next steps in their journey.  Huge thanks to Mrs Robb for masterminding this opportunity.

A Message from Mr Harrington – Head of PE

As it is coming towards the end of the academic year, we as a PE department would like to ask for any donations of PE kit that no longer fits your child/children. We would very much appreciate anything that can be given as this will help to support our students to partake in all lessons and activities throughout our curriculum.

We would welcome all PE kit, but would especially like football boots, shorts, T-shirts and leggings. We would be most thankful for anything that you are able to donate.

Secondly, I am very pleased to confirm that our new 4G all-weather pitch is ready for students to use. Below are some photos of our fantastic new facility:

Transition

Miss Swann, along with members of our pastoral and learning support teams, has been visiting local primary schools as part of our Year 6 into Year 7 transition process. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Year 6 parents and students back to our school in the coming weeks. Next year’s year 7 is already over subscribed and so we are currently operating a waiting list for entry into the year group.

As part of the transition process, we will providing opportunities for our current Year 7s to eat in the main canteen before the end of the term. Miss Swann will confirm the detail.

Have a very good weekend.

Mr M Barrow

We believe in encouraging and rewarding effort and achievement. Students earn HEART points which focus on positive behaviours for learning and the development of each and every student’s character.

We believe that by providing students with HEART points, students are encouraged to engage fully with all opportunities available to them.

They also provide a framework for students to achieve their personal best and to be rewarded for it.

Through our planned curriculum and focus on HEART, we strive to develop 6 character virtues which are in line with our whole school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire’.
