It’s been a busy week across the school, with a range of enriching activities for students in all year groups. From university visits to interactive workshops, students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm.
In wider education news, it’s been encouraging to see national recognition of the positive impact of enrichment activities on student wellbeing and aspirations. A recent report from the Education Endowment Foundation highlighted how opportunities like workshops, college visits, and careers events significantly boost student engagement and motivation—something we’re proud to be putting into action here each week.
JFK Workshop – Years 7–10
An update from Mrs Cheung
The week began with an exciting workshop for students in Years 7 to 10, focused on the life, leadership, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. The session encouraged critical thinking, debate, and reflection on key moments in modern history, all while building communication and teamwork skills. Students engaged enthusiastically and represented the school with maturity and curiosity.

Year 10 Taster Day – Braintree College & Sixth Form
Mrs Robb
Our Year 10s took part in a split-site Taster Day, visiting both Braintree College and our own Sixth Form. Students had the chance to try out new subjects, meet staff and current students, and get a real feel for the choices available to them after Year 11. It was a valuable and engaging step in helping them plan for the future.
Year 12 UCAS Discovery Trip
Mrs Howells
Year 12 students attended a UCAS Discovery event this week, meeting representatives from universities, colleges, and apprenticeship providers across the country. They gathered information, explored post-18 options, and had useful conversations about potential courses, locations, and career paths. A great step forward as they begin to plan for life after Sixth Form.
