The Prime Minister’s Holocaust Commission is to convene a Youth Forum in Downing Street in the autumn this year.

A competition to join the forum, which will discuss the work of the Commission, has been launched today. Young people across the country are invited to enter by writing an essay answering the question ‘Why is it so important that we remember the Holocaust and how can we make sure future generations never forget?’

Six places are up for grabs for the best essays from the age categories:

  • 21 years old and under
  • 18 years old and under
  • 16 years old and under
One winner will be chosen by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel to join the Commission as a youth member to feed in the views of the forum and help decide the final recommendations to be submitted to the Prime Minister.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 30 May 2014.
