James Meade was nominated by a member of the community for his service to 1st Notley Cubs.He started volunteering his help with the cubs as part of his Duke of Edinburgh voluntary section. However, when the 3 months ended, James asked if he could continue helping. He had no prior experience of scouts and so had to learn a lot very fast. He gives up many evenings and some of his weekends to help with various activities and has now started to run activities on his own. He has grown in confidence working with young people and other adults and been a real help in the scout troop.
In addition, James has helped in school with year 7 reading support on a Friday morning and kept up with his work for his A-levels.
James would like to give his money to the PER department to spend on an enrichment trip to a mosque or similar to get a better appreciation of other religions in the community as there are not really any of these at the moment. This has not yet been arranged as it will take some time and need to go on the school calendar next year.
