The year 12 Politics students had the exciting opportunity to enter the Hugo Young Award competition. This is a prestigious competition run every year by The Guardian newspaper. Students were invited to submit a short article expressing a political opinion on the topic of their choice. The winning student will have their article published on the Guardian’s website and take part in a writer’s masterclass.

Our students engaged with this task with enthusiasm and creativity. They researched a wide range of relevant topics. Charlie G covered the controversy around Qatar hosting the World Cup, Thomas C addressed the cost of University education and Lucy W spoke in favour of public sector strikes. Charlie G said “this was a really good opportunity to share our political opinions. Results will be announced later in the year. Good luck year 12 Politics students!
