Kind-hearted Year 9 pupil Chloe Clifton has put together a bag of supplies to put towards the aid effort for Ukraine citizens fleeing the country. With a helping hand from her younger brother Nathan, she sourced toiletry items such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant and towels.

She said: “I saw that the school was doing something, and I just really wanted to help. These people are having to leave their homes with nothing.”

Any pupils who want to follow in Chloe’s footsteps can bring in items up until next Thursday, 17 March. They will passed on to UK-Aid, a local charity which is sending a number of lorries with aid on 24 March.

Most needed items include:

• new underwear (women and children)
• washing powder/ bottled washing liquid (no capsules)
• shower gel
• toothbrushes/toothpaste
• shampoo/conditioner
• nappies/baby wipes
• women's sanitary products
• new towels
