Dear Parent/Carers 

I am writing to inform you that there will be a Rewards Trip for Year 8 students on Thursday 17 July, to Adventure Island in Southend. The trip is organised to celebrate the achievements of students who consistently get it right through excellent behaviour, attendance and punctuality. All students in the year group have the opportunity be invited on to the trip as the qualification period will begin after the Easter holidays. This letter is to inform you about the eligibility criteria for students to be invited on the trip.

Qualification period:

The qualification period will begin on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 until Tuesday 17 June 2025 (8 weeks). During this time, students must meet the following criteria: 

1. Attendance and Punctuality:
   • A minimum of 95% attendance. This equates to no more than two days of absence; however, we will consider absences due to medical reasons on an individual basis.
   • No incidents of truancy from lessons or tutor time.
   • No more than two instances of being marked as late to tutor time.
   • No more than four instances of being marked late to lessons. 

2. Heart Points:
   • Students are required to collect at least 10 Heart Points each week. Heart Points are awarded during form time and lessons as a recognition of positive contributions and behaviours. Students can also be awarded Heart Points for positive acts outside of lessons, and for attending clubs. 

3. Negative Behaviour Incidents:
   • No more than 5 negative PAL2 incidents logged.
   • No PAL3 or PAL 999 incidents logged.
   • No incidents of bullying behaviour towards other students.
   • No suspensions or internal isolation.
   • No reports of behaviour that brings the school’s reputation into disrepute, including incidents that occur outside of school or on social media.  

Support and Special Considerations
Please be assured that the special educational needs of students are considered in applying these criteria. While the criteria apply to all, reasonable adjustments may be made to meet individual students' needs, as appropriate. 

I will notify you if your child is in danger of not meeting the eligibility criteria for the trip.
