Dear Parent/Carers

As we approach the final stretch before the GCSE exam period, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the continued support you have given your child throughout their studies. These final weeks are crucial, and together we can ensure they are as prepared and confident as possible.

Revision at This Stage

Now is the time for focused, effective revision. Encourage your child(ren) to:

  • Prioritise subjects and topics based on their mock results or teacher feedback.
  • Use active revision strategies such as practising past papers, flashcards, mind maps, and teaching topics to someone else.
  • Follow a realistic revision timetable that balances study with short breaks and rest.

Maintaining Wellbeing

Supporting wellbeing during this period is just as important as academic preparation. Please help your child(ren) by:

  • Encouraging regular sleep, healthy eating, and physical activity.
  • Providing a quiet, distraction-free study space at home.
  • Reassuring them that doing their best is what truly matters.

Key Reminders

  • Students should know the exam timetable and arrive well-prepared and on time for each paper.
  • Equipment such as black pens, pencils, a ruler, calculator (where needed), and a clear pencil case should be brought to every exam.
  • School staff are here to help – if your child(ren) have any concerns, encourage them to speak to their subject teachers or pastoral team.

In-School Support

We continue to offer subject-specific revision sessions and pastoral support in school. Please remind your child to take advantage of these opportunities, including period 6.

The in-school revision schedule starting on Wednesday 7 May.  This has been emailed to all students with an explanation and is attached to this letter.

The examination timetable can be found here: NOTLEY HIGH SCHOOL & BRAINTREE SIXTH FORM PRACTICAL AND WRITTEN GCSE AND VOCATIONAL EXAMINATIONS SUMMER 2025 SERIES. Individual student timetables have been uploaded to each student’s Arbor account.

GCSEs can be a challenging time, but with the right balance of preparation, encouragement, and care, our students will rise to the occasion. Thank you again for your partnership in helping them succeed.

With best wishes

Mr M Barrow
Headteacher
